Community Court Program
Program Objectives
- Decrease the number of docketed delinquent case filings by law enforcement officers and District Judges to the Mercer County Juvenile Probation Department regarding low level offenses and nuisance crimes.
- Utilize the Accountability through Employment component of the Community Support Project to increase offender accountability to victim and community through payment of restitution.
- Utilize Community Service component of Community Support Project to increase offender accountability to victim and community.
- Decrease the number of adjudication hearings in Juvenile Court.
- Utilize the Victim Offender Mediation component of the Community Support Project to increase victim satisfaction within the juvenile justice system, reduce victim trauma, anger, and assist victim in gaining a better understanding of juvenile justice process.
- Increase offender accountability via Community Courts.
- Increase community involvement and support in the Juvenile Justice System via Community Courts.
- Decrease the time lapse from the date of referral to date of disposition for informal cases.
- Reduce the number of adjudicated youth from the Juvenile Justice System through diversion into the Community Courts.
