Information and Services

The Mercer County Treasurer is elected to a four-year term and serves as custodian of all county funds. The Treasurer records and deposits all monies due to and received by the County. These monies consist of payments of county taxes, county fees, as well as State and Federal grants. A receipt must be issued and provided to the departments and the Controller's Office for all monies received by the County. 

The County Treasurer is responsible for investing County funds in short or intermediate term investments until such funds are needed for disbursement.

Mercer County has over 100 different bank accounts, these accounts are balanced on a daily basis and reconciled monthly by the Treasurer's Office.

The Treasurer is an agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is responsible for the sale and issuance of different licenses and permits:
  • Antlerless Deer License
  • Bingo License
  • Temporary Boat Registration
  • Dog License
  • Federal Duck Stamp
  • Fishing License
  • Hunting License
  • Launch Permits
  • Sportsmen's Pistol Permits
  • Small Game of Chance License
As of October 1, 2000, the Treasurer was assigned the authority and responsibility to collect the Mercer County Hotel Excise Tax. This tax is levied on the patrons of hotels, motels, inns, guest houses and bed & breakfast establishments in Mercer County and will benefit the Mercer County Conventions and Visitors Bureau to promote the tourism industry in Mercer County.
