Saturday, March 21, 2026 Women’s History Month “Tea” Celebrating Mercer County Women Keynote Speaker: Autumn Johnson, Mercer County’s Chief Public Defender Celebrate America’s birthday as the America250PA – Mercer County Committee honors local women who have made a difference in Mercer County in business, education, law, government, and their local communities. There is no cost to attend, but reservations are appreciated. If you have any questions, please call Donna Elder Sutley at 724-699-2274. Saturday, May 2, 2026 Revolutionary War Evening of Reflection & Patriot Vigil Presented by The Mercer County Historical Society & Museum, this special event will honor Mercer County’s Revolutionary War heroes. The evening will begin with a ceremony at the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel, followed by a candlelight parade to the Old Mercer Graveyard where local Girl Scouts will place wreaths on the graves of Revolutionary War veterans. Representative Parke Wentling, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, will speak at the ceremony at the cemetery. Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm Starts at Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel, Mercer Saturday, May 16, 2026 Underground Railroad Tour Join us for a powerful and enlightening journey through Mercer County’s rich history as we explore the legacy of the Underground Railroad. Conducted by renowned local historian and author Dr. Roland C. Barksdale-Hall, this tour will uncover the courageous efforts of those who fought for freedom and justice in our region. Highlights Include • Guided tour of key Underground Railroad sites in Mercer County, including the Gibson House in Jamestown, PA, Pandenarium settlement, and burial site for Liberia settlement • Mercer County Historical Society: lunch and tour will be provided • Historical insights and storytelling by Roland C. Barksdale-Hall • Oration and Songs from the era of slavery by Monica Jefferson and Leon Avery Time: 9:00 am Starts at: 50 N. Water Ave., Sharon Ticket price: $20 per person (includes transportation & lunch) Space is limited. Only 50 seats available. July 3, 2026 Happy Birthday America Concert & Fireworks Don’t miss the most patriotic concert Mercer County has ever seen as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday with music and fireworks. We thank Dr. Hendley Hoge and The Mercer Community Band for their talent and enthusiasm! Time: 5:30 pm Warm-up Music; 7:00 pm Main Concert Location: Courthouse Grounds, Mercer Rain location: Mercer High School; in the event of rain, we will reschedule the fireworks July 4, 2026 Fourth of July Parade Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday Get out your best red, white & blue and show your American spirit by attending or participating in Mercer County’s America250 Fourth of July Parade! Everyone is invited to celebrate our freedom and our great nation! Trails End Conservancy will be leading the parade. Time: 10:00 am Starts at Mercer Elementary School and ends at cemetery Click here to register your group to be in the parade July 4, 2026 Old-fashioned Ice Cream Social Following the parade, stop by the tent on the Courthouse lawn to get some free ice cream.
