About Dog Law
In Pennsylvania, all dogs aged 3 months and older must be licensed each year by January 1st. Yearly licenses are valid from date of purchase until December 31st of that year.
Yearly licensed must be purchased on or before January 1st every year but are still sold at anytime throughout the calendar year.
Lifetime licenses are valid for the lifetime of the dog and can be purchased only though the County Treasurer’s Office. Lifetime License applications must be accompanied by a Permanent Identification Verification form which has the dog’s microchip number or Treasurer Office issued tattoo number and is signed by the veterinarian or employee performing the tattoo or scanning the microchip or by a PA licensed kennel establishment implanting or scanning the microchip.
Regular Yearly License: $8.70
Senior/Disabled Yearly License: $6.70
Regular Lifetime License: $52.70
Senior/Disabled Lifetime License: $36.70
• To qualify for the senior/disability price, you must be either 65 years of age at the date of purchase or fill out and sign the disability affidavit and send with your license application.
Licensed can be purchased online, through the mail, at the Treasurer’s Office or at one of our agent locations:

If your dog loses its license, a duplicate can be made for $1.70. Please come into the Treasurer’s Office to purchase same day or send a letter with your information and the dog’s name along with payment and we can send the duplicate license to you.
