About Veterans Affairs

Mercer County Veterans Affairs was created to assist Veterans and their families in the pursuit of county, state, and federal benefits. Our primary focus is ensuring that Veterans receive all entitlements they have earned by serving their country.

Our office can assist with the following benefits: disability compensation claims, pension claims, real estate tax exemption for 100% permanently and totally disabled Veterans, emergency financial assistance, applications for VA home loan certificate of eligibility, applications for VA healthcare, PTSD counseling, recording, or requesting military discharge papers, death gratuity benefits and more.

The Veterans’ Affairs office is open to the public. However, we do ask that you call the office prior to any visit to discuss the nature of your claim and to schedule an appointment (REQUIRED). Appointments are necessary to ensure that we have allotted enough time to prepare and assist veterans and their families. Anyone who visits the office without an appointment may have to wait for a staff member to be available to assist them if there is a previously scheduled appointment.

For general information as well as specific programs and benefits provided through the Veterans Benefits Administration please visit their website at Veterans Benefits Administration Home (va.gov)

NORMAL HOURS OF OPERATION: 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Upon arriving at the office, we ask that you please sign in on the sheet provided. If someone is ahead of you when you arrive, please wait on the bench in the hallway.

The staff also host a Veterans’ breakfast event at the Golden Corral in Hermitage, PA on the first Saturday of the month. Any veteran is welcome to attend, and we would love to see new faces!

Thank you for your time and patience concerning the nature of your visit to Veterans Affairs. Most of all, thank you for your service to our Nation.
