The Mercer County Jail is located at 55 Thompson Road in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The facility has a maximum holding capacity of 310 inmates, with an average daily population of 201 (as of 2024). Our objective is to operate and maintain a humane and secure facility, while keeping the community safe. We also provide treatment and educational services to assist the population with re-entry into the community.

Medical services are provided by Prime Care Medical Inc. and are available 24 hours a day. Our facility is NCCHC certified (National Commission on Correctional Health Care), providing medical, dental, and mental health services to the inmate population. Our facility also utilizes the MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) and MOUD (Medications for Opioid Use Disorders) programs, to continue medicated assisted treatment for opioid use disorders during incarceration. Our Counseling Department provides classification, individual counseling, and program management seven days a week. They also serve as direct liaisons to the court system and outside agencies. Inmates can seek programming services through the counseling department, either through individual interest or through court orders. Our Records Department processes over 4,500 admissions and releases each year, working directly with the court system of Mercer County and other jurisdictions. To contact the records department, please call (724) 662-2700 (Ext. 2335).

FAQs:

o There are two methods in which visitors may deposit money on to an inmate’s account. Effective immediately, visitors may begin depositing money via the Kiosk during your unit’s scheduled visitation.

 CASH-may be deposited on the inmate’s account during your scheduled visit or between the hours of 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Sunday thru Saturday. A Kiosk is located in the jail’s lobby for this transaction and deposits will be posted to the inmate’s account on or by the next business day.

 CREDIT CARD-a credit card may be used to deposit money on an inmate’s account either by using www.connectnetwork.com or by using the kiosk in the jail’s main lobby.

Please note: this method normally takes three business days to process the transaction.

o Inmates will be able to purchase tablet time from the commissary (when available). Friends and family can deposit funds to the inmate’s tablet account:

 Via the free Getting Out mobile app for Apple and Android.

o You must be pre-approved and on that inmate’s visitation list. Current and valid photo identification is required for anyone attempting to visit an incarcerated individual. Visitors will be refused entry if they do not have photo identification.

o No cell phones, lighters, tobacco products, recording devices are permitted inside this facility. If a visitor is found to have any items considered contraband, they will be asked to leave the facility.

Visitation is available either via video visit on the inmate tablet system or in person (non-contact). Each housing unit has separate days for in person visits.

Visits must be scheduled the day before the visit after 7:00PM, but no later than 7:00AM the day of the visit. Please contact the Booking Department at (724) 662-2700 (ext. 2532) to schedule visits.

Incoming mail must be sent to a processing center, prior to delivery to anyone incarcerated at this facility. You must clearly list the name, Booking Number (BN) and mailing address for mail to be delivered to this facility.
